In the latest results, over 39,300 What Car? readers responded, covering 30 brands and 225 different models. The outcome reinforces what many drivers already know: when UK motorists look for reliable cars they can count on, Suzuki is the leading name in the conversation.

WHAT THE 2026 RESULTS MEAN FOR YOU

The What Car? Reliability Survey digs into faults, repair times, and costs to reveal how cars perform beyond the first few months. Less downtime and fewer issues translate into higher scores – and that’s where Suzuki shines. Here are some of our individual model highlights:

  • Suzuki Swift (2017–2024) ranked equal first place in the Supermini section with zero faults reported by owners, one of only two models to achieve a perfect 100% this year.
  • In the small SUV class, Vitara scored 97.6%, comfortably ahead of the class average of 91.7%.

“ALMOST ALL OWNERS TOLD US ABOUT HAD AN EXEMPLARY RELIABILITY RECORD. BEST OF ALL IS THE PREVIOUS GENERATION SWIFT, WHICH IS ONE OF ONLY TWO MODELS TO GAIN A PERFECT 100% RATING THIS YEAR, MEANING THAT NONE OF THE EXAMPLES REPORTED ON BY OWNERS SUFFERED ANY FAULTS WHATSOEVER.”

CLAIRE EVANS, CONSUMER EDITOR AT WHAT CAR?

Claire Evans, Consumer Editor at What Car?, said:

“Suzuki has triumphed in the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, after seven years of being a close runner up. Its rating of 97.8% signifies that almost all owners told us about had an exemplary reliability record. Best of all is the previous generation Swift, which is one of only two models to gain a perfect 100% rating this year, meaning that none of the examples reported on by owners suffered any faults whatsoever.

The brand’s overall fault rate of 10% is the lowest in this year’s survey, and all of the cars that did have a flaw were fixed for free – impressive when you consider that many will have been outside the three-year new car warranty period.”

What this actually means for you:

  • Fewer unexpected repairs and quicker turnarounds when they are needed
  • More predictable running costs over the long term

EASY OWNERSHIP: SERVICING, UP TO 10 YEAR WARRANTY*, AND SUPPORT

Keeping your Suzuki at its best is simple. Authorised Suzuki Service Centres use genuine parts engineered to original specification. Routine checks on fluids, filters, brakes, and tyres help prevent small issues becoming bigger ones. That’s the kind of quiet efficiency that underpins strong What Car? reliability scores.

Owners also benefit from extensive warranty* support. Suzuki offers up to 10 years warranty* free of charge via Service Activated warranty* (SAW). Once your car reaches the end of its manufacturer warranty* period of three years / 60,000 miles, book its annual service within the Suzuki Dealer network and the warranty* is renewed. It remains in place until the next qualifying service and can be renewed again up to a maximum vehicle age of 10 years / 100,000 miles. Major components are covered, and if you sell your car between services within the qualifying period, the warranty* can be transferred to the next owner at no cost.

For electrified models, the e VITARA includes up to 10 years EV battery warranty* – eight years manufacturer coverage followed by a further two years that are service activated. Together with nationwide assistance and dealer support, you get reassurance that fits neatly into everyday life.

To keep your Suzuki in top condition follow the service schedule, use approved parts and fluids, and act promptly on warning lights. Do that, and you’ll see why the car reliability survey consistently highlights Suzuki among the most reliable cars UK drivers trust.
