Some dealers have the capability for you to buy a new or used Suzuki online, via their website. The first step is to contact your local dealer. The dealer will tell you what facilities it offers for online purchases, including whether you can make a contactless payment. The dealer may also be able to deliver the car to your home too, but best to check this when arranging your car purchase.
Yes, you can drive to your local dealership, but you’ll need to contact them in advance to check on their particular parking arrangements, which are likely to have changed because of social distancing requirements.
Suzuki dealers are taking their responsibility for implementing the government’s social distancing guidelines very seriously, so we have introduced a number of measures to help us reopen safely.
You will find lots of signs around the dealership, explaining how to remain two metres apart from other customers and dealership staff. So, for example, you will find banners reminding you of the measures in place, floor markings showing which direction to walk in (a one-way system may be in place in some showrooms, with a separate entrance and exit), and reminders that gatherings are limited to two customers (from the same household) and one member of staff.
As we all know, maintaining good hygiene standards is crucial in keeping us all safe, so this is one of the cornerstones of our focus when reopening dealerships.
All staff will be washing their hands for the recommended 20-30 seconds before and after speaking to every customer. Dealers will also regularly clean and disinfect all surfaces and cars – including door handles, telephones, workstations and toilets.
Our dealers are taking a number of important measures to ensure that everyone stays safe.
The obvious thing that you’ll notice as soon as you step into a showroom is that all staff will be keeping two metres apart at all times, including when sitting at desks and workstations.
We will also have a number of procedures in place to ensure that hygiene standards are in line with government requirements – and that the rules we are following will be clearly visible to customers.
In dealerships where toilet facilities are open, there will be a plentiful supply of liquid soaps, hand sanitisers and hygienic hand dryers. In addition, all areas of the showroom – including those used only by staff – will be regularly cleaned and disinfected.
Our vehicles will also be cleaned and disinfected regularly, particularly key surfaces. Cars that have been serviced will also be sanitised and marked as clean before being handed back to customers: in some cases, they will be cleaned in front of customers.
In our workshops, all tools used will be allocated to individual members of staff and cleaned regularly.
All cleaning will be carried out by staff wearing disposable gloves. Cleaning cloths will only be used once.
Keeping our customers safe while they wait to be seen by a member of staff is obviously a major priority at all Suzuki dealerships.
As such, all furniture and electronics (such as tablets) will be regularly disinfected, while the seats will be positioned two metres apart from each other.
At this time, we will not have newspapers and magazines on display for customers and vending machines will be either disinfected regularly or out of use entirely.
All our showrooms will have a minimum two-metre space between vehicles, with customers given access to the vehicles with the permission of a member of the dealership staff. Staff and customers will not sit in the same vehicle at the same time and, in between uses, the vehicles will be ventilated thoroughly, with all surfaces cleaned and disinfected.
If you’re bringing your car to the dealership to have a fault fixed, you will need to explain the issue to a member of staff before they take the vehicle out for an unaccompanied diagnostic test drive.
Plus, of course, all social distancing and hygiene standards will be maintained at all times.
We are encouraging any financial transactions to be made over the phone, using contactless payments or via bank transfers. Dealerships would like to avoid cash payments as much as possible.
If we need you to sign anything, we will try, as much as possible, to use electronic signature software.
However, if we do require a physical signature, there will be separators at the dealership to keep staff members and customers physically apart, in order to keep everyone safe. A ballpoint pen – either brand new or previously disinfected – will be handed to the customer for their use and, after signing, the pen will be placed in a disposable box and either disposed of or thoroughly disinfected.
Dealers will, as far as possible, use email for sending any paperwork or invoices.
Any paperwork that customers return to us will not be reused, including any brochures or other materials.
Once you’ve purchased your Suzuki, we have a number of processes in place to ensure that it is handed over to you safely.
Firstly, all the contact surfaces will have been thoroughly cleaned and single-use protection sets placed to protect the seat, steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever. The car will also have been completely ventilated before it is handed over to you.
There will also be a dedicated handover bay at the dealership, to help you take possession of your vehicle in complete safety. The sales advisor will not sit in the vehicle with you, so if you need any help getting to know all its features, these can be explained in a video that will be sent to you.
If any signatures are required at the handover, the dealer will attempt to take them electronically. If this is not possible, and a handwritten signature is required, a see-through separator will be set up between you and the staff member. You will sign the agreement with a pen that is either brand new or has been disinfected before you use it (after use, the pen will be placed into a disposable box and either disposed of or thoroughly disinfected).
